I was hired to convert a home office in Alameda’s East End into a shared little girls’ bedroom. My clients fell in love with a Japanese doll bedspread; this was to be our inspiration. Three colors were chosen for the walls; pink, orange and a blue for the closets. The closets were converted into usable spaces that included a reading nook on one side and both clothing and toy storage on the other. I chose beautiful chrysanthemum print curtains for the closets in order to close off the areas when not in use. Little Chinese tea lights were hung on the ceiling to use as a playful night light. The pendant ceiling light, also a chrysanthemum pattern, was a classic touch that will grow with the girls as they mature.
